An Efficient and Mild Method for the Alkylation of p-Cresol with tert-Butyl Alcohol

چکیده

The synthesis 2-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol is of great significance because its wide application in industry, and the development a highly efficient catalyst necessary for alkylation p-cresol tert-butyl alcohol. Here, an mild method was established. Caprolactam chosen as hydrogen-bonding acceptor; p-toluenesulfonic acid employed donor, deep eutectic solvent (DES) prepared to catalyze reaction. structure characterized by 1H NMR spectra, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR). In addition, response surface design based on Box–Behnken optimize reaction process parameters, study kinetics also carried out subsequently. recycle performance evaluated recovery experiments, good result obtained. By drawing comparisons with literature reported, we provide 2-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol.
